The beverage company Recommences Beer Production Following a Cyber Incident

Asahi has gradually reopened production at each of its six beer plants in the country following being compelled to shut down them because of a online intrusion.

Several major stores in Japan, for example key retail outlets, had alerted recently that they were running low on stocks of their beverages following the cyber incident impacted the company's supply chain systems across Japan.

This entity is the biggest beer producer in Japan, but it also makes non-alcoholic beverages and food products, as well as providing private-label goods to various sellers.

The slowly resumed breweries produce popular Asahi Super Dry, but the company is also restarting plants that generate edibles and beverages.

Wider Consequences of the Digital Breach

The security incident is the newest to have affected activities at large corporations, with carmaker an international car company yet to fully recover from an attack that halted output.

Asahi Group furthermore possesses a British brand in the Britain and international labels for instance Peroni, Pilsner Urquell and Grolsch. However, exclusively Asahi's operations in the country - which constitute approximately 50% its revenue - have been affected by the incident.

Current Operational Status

Asahi said the restarted production sites in the country were "yet to reach complete functionality", and that a pair of their drink manufacturing facilities that have gradually restarted were also not running at complete efficiency.

It noted there were a further five beverage plants that "are planned to recommence slowly in correlation to deliveries."

All seven of its edible product facilities have recommenced functions, although they are likewise not running at full capacity.

Asahi said the manufacturing infrastructure at the plants directly had not been affected by the online incident, but it had been forced to halt manufacturing because it was unable to handle purchases and distribution.

Restoration Timeline

Recently, Asahi said it was "unable to provide a clear timeline for recovery" but that it was working with outside digital protection specialists to repair its systems as soon as possible.
