Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
