Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that defies usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Uncovered
According to the authorized release, "A mysterious encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The adventure centers on "strange tests and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Bonus Features
Players who finish the mission will obtain an special katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's third no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
